The Teatro Metropólitan is one of Mexico City's most popular theater and live music venues. Built by architect Pedro Gorozpe E. and designed by designer Aurelio G. Mendoza, the building originally opened in 1943 as the movie theater Cine Metropólitan. The Cine Metropólitan closed down in 1985 and re-opened as the Teatro Metropólitan in 1996.
